Time in Yuma

We arrived in Yuma on Dec 22, celebrated Christmas with friends in the park and then left for our New Zealand/Australia trip on Dec. 26 (trip is in separate entry).  We also saw relatives that happened to be in the Yuma area, an aunt and 2 cousins and their families and a cousin and her husband that just moved to Yuma.

We got back into Yuma on Jan. 17, and enjoyed visiting with our friends in the park, enjoyed more time with relatives, celebrated a couple of birthdays and attended a Valentine Dance/Dinner and two different performances in the lodge:  Bernie and Red and an Elvis impersonator.

We also saw a couple of movies:  UpSide, Mule and Cold Pursuit with friends.  And of course at least twice a week we went out for dinner and then always had a get together with friends for the NASCAR races.

We met Angie's two twin granddaughters and their parents, that just turned 1 in December.  Mike's son and his wife also came for a weekend, so we had more barbecue meal preparations, which the four of us enjoy doing.  These pictures were taken later, but I wanted to share.  Guess who is the sweet one and the one who is a little character?!

In February, I went up to Buckeye and met up with work friends.  We went to the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens for the day and met up with another peer who now lives in Tucson.  Once we left Phoenix, I spent a night with Belinda and Polly in Buckeye before returning back to Yuma.  What a great get away!

I have always wanted to plant a little succulent garden so this year I found a planter and to my surprise within a couple of weeks, I had a bloom!  We also had a wood sign made for our RV site.

Mike and Angie got bicycles so the four of us went for a ride along the canals once and once Craig and I rode.  Most of the time, Angie and I would either walk 3 miles in the park about 5 days a week.  Sometimes we would mix it up with walking and riding.

After church service was completed for the season at the park, we went to the Desert Grace Community Church of the Nazarene.  So interesting that out of all the churches we could have chose to attend, this is the same one that my cousins attend and to our surprise we met them there the first Sunday we attended.  We also went to a special event during the week in honor of the military that included Barbershop Quartets that sang and a flag burning ceremony put on by the Scouts.

Overall, the time went very fast and we left Yuma on April 1.  As we were packing up to go, Craig had a little helper.
