For the month of November the casino at the park and their other two associated casinos were having $5 buffets (including tax). Even though I'm not crazy about buffets, how can you go wrong with prime rib and salad bar for $5.
We went over the hump to Las Vegas multiple times for shopping and sightseeing as the south western part of Vegas was only about 45 miles from the RV park. Of all things, our DVR started acting up so we needed to get a hard drive to copy all of our unwatched shows onto the new DVR. Our electric fireplace also finally quit, so we had to make a shopping trip to get it replaced.

One of my friends that I met during pre-registration for first grade lives in Las Vegas, and so they came out to Pahrump one day and the four of us visited the two wineries in Pahrump - Pahrump Winery and the Sanders Family Winery. Great day catching up with Charlie and Phyllis.
We also made another drive to Death Valley as some additional roads were opened after the Oct. 18 flooding. We drove through Shoshone which is a very small town with a lot of history, passed the Armagosa Opera House and then into the park. Craig spotted the tarantula in the middle of the road so we stopped to take the pictures and then later we saw about 8 wild mustangs on the side of the road.

Lexie had her six month blood work in Pahrump and we are so pleased that the pills definitely brought her enzymes down, and even though she has some issues with dealing with the medications she is doing well overall. We'll continue the medications for two more months and then reevaluate.
Another first for us was to attend a presidential campaign speech. Ben Carson actually was in Pahrump, so thinking there wouldn't be much of a crowd, Craig and I went to the Pahrump Nugget to hear what he had to say. The place was packed.
On Sunday before Thanksgiving, we smoked a Turkey and made dressing and gravy.
While in Las Vegas, we decided to stick around til evening and walk through the the Ethel M. Chocolate Cactus Gardens. We enjoyed the lights and of course the chocolate factory tour and samples.
On Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we went to the Pahrump Museum and learned so much about the area. They did not get electricity in Pahrump til 1963. In the 1800's Pahrump was known for their cotton and agricultural area but now they are known as a big retirement community. 87% of the state of Nevada's land is owned by the government. Nye County, where Pahrump is located, is the third largest county in the United States. And Yucca Mountain was approved in 2002 as a nuclear radioactive repository and then closed down in 2010 by President Obama.

And then on Thanksgiving, we were invited to my friends home for Thanksgiving dinner in Vegas. Great dinner and wonderful company with Charlie, Phyllis and their family.
And of course I need to mention, that Saturday was my big birthday (60) - so Craig and I had a wonderful dinner at the Pahrump Winery's restaurant Symphonys.

Steak and Lobster - it was wonderful! |
On Sunday we had the coach, trailer and Explorer washed and so we are now ready to hit the road on Tuesday, Dec. 1 to the next stop, Willow Beach, AZ on the Colorado River just south of Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.
