Paso Robles and Morro Bay

We booked a VRBO in Morro Bay with Otto and Robin the week of March 30 to April 6.  Craig and I travelled from Buckeye and stopped in Palm Desert on our way there and enjoyed an Italian restaurant called Mario.  On our way home we stopped in Indio to shorten the drive time and found a great Mexican restaurant, El Mexicali Cafe II.  Both restaurants were within walking distance of the hotels we stayed at.

On Saturday night we went to Morro Bay and had dinner at Rose's Bar & Grill and just got settled into the house.

On Easter Sunday after watching church service online, we went to downtown Paso Robles and found 3 wineries that were open; Hoyt, Seashell and Dracaena.  We then went  back to Morro Bay and had dinner at Taco Temple, fantastic little place.

On Monday we drove to Pismo Beach and then back to San Luis Obispo (SLO) and did some wine tasting at Sausalito Canyon and Kelsey See - this one was not a favorite.  We then did Otto and Robin's 18th Anniversary dinner at F McLintock Saloon & Dining at Shell Beach.  After dinner we went to Morro Beach and watched the Vanderberg Space Launch.

Tuesday we went out in the hills of Paso Robles and went to Thacher, Tablas Creek and Whalebone (one of my favorites.  We then went to Round Table pizza for dinner.

Wednesday we went to Tin City in downtown PR and visited three wineries; Levi, Nicora and Jacob Toft, all three were very good, especially the last two.  We then went to Herman Story and this was not our favorite.  On the way home, we got steak and salad and barbecued at the VRBO.

Thursday we started with a wine cave tour then tasting in PR at Eberle.  We then went to Opolo (great) and Pinaetta.  We had dinner at Taste-Craft Eatery and then had reservations at Sensorio at light show.  It was cold, windy and rainy but we thoroughly enjoyed the lights once it got dark and quit raining.

On Friday, we did no wine tasting.  Otto and Robin went to Hearst Castle and when they returned, we went to downtown SLO and saw BubbleGum alley and the mission and then just walked the streets.  We then went back to the bay and saw the white headed sea otters.  After walking a few of the shops on the Bay, we had dinner at Dutchman's Seafood House.

It was so great that all the locations including the VRBO were pet friendly, so Bridget was able to do almost everything with us except for a few dinners.
