Summer in WA and OR

We arrived mid-April into our Chehalis leased site to start our doctor visits and visiting friends and family.  We arrived earlier than normal since we were taking a month trip overseas from May 10 - June 8 (trip pictures are in two separate posts).  We went down a couple of days before the trip to park the motorhome at our friends in Estacada and flew out of Portland.   When we returned to the airport our nephew and his son Jace, came and picked us up after a scouting event.  Jace looked so handsome in his scout uniform.

We also finally were able to see niece Brooke and her horse Sassy at the barn.  We spent part of the day in Estacada at the horse barn watching Brooke practice for her upcoming competition at the Canby fairgrounds for 4-H.

And before we went back to Chehalis, we went to lunch at a restaurant in Carver, where part of the Twilight movie was filmed.  Great menu and beautiful outside setting along the river.

We took Craig's Mom and Dad out to Tacos Gabby in Yelm to celebrate their 65th Anniversary.

In June, Craig's nephew and his family came to the Chehalis campground in their tent trailer and we enjoyed spending a couple of days with them, especially watching how much Logan has grown up.  She's 1 1/2 in this picture

Our friends had bought a new home last year right before we left, so we spent a couple of days with them enjoying their new house.  We went to Enumclaw one day and did some wine tasting and then the next day we went to Point Ruston in Tacoma and the new McMenamins Elks.  We toured various bars in McMenamins and found the hidden bar.

Then we drove to Packwood, WA and camped with them to celebrate the Fourth of July.  We took a drive through the Pinchot Gifford National Forest to Walupt Lake.

We also attended a dog show at the Puyallup Fairgrounds watching our friend show her Russel Terrior.

Back to Portland to stay in Estacada again to finally see Brooke compete at the Canby Fairgrounds 4-H competition.  We went the day when she was competing in all gaming events.  She did really well and we so enjoyed the day, despite all the dust in the barm.

The next day we took the Sternwheeler on a brunch cruise sponsored by Maryhill winery with friends.

We also had a weekend with friends wine tasting in the Newberg and Dundee area.    We spent two nights and did wine tasting on Friday - Sunday, before driving home.

On Friday we visited Purple Cow/Vintry, Cliff Creek Cellars and Bravuro.  Saturday we went to Laurel Ridge, Solena, Cana's Feast and had lunch at the The Horse Radish restaurant in Carlton.  Sunday before heading home we went to Domain Drouhin, Erath, Cathedral Ridge and had lunch at Trellis in Dundee.  The wineries had such a great view,  the deck is at Domain Drouhin and the field photo was taken at Laurel Ridge.

When we got back to camp, we had a visitor one evening helping the squirrels with their food.

We then left WA earlier than normal and headed to Eugene, OR on Aug. 4 to Oregon Motorcoach to get the yearly maintenance done on the motorhome.  Found out we needed tires earlier than we thought so we scheduled that in Salem.

We arrived at the Hee Hee Illahee RV park and met up with family and friends to include doing a lunch with the girls from school.  This year would have been our 45th reunion, so we went to Dallas and had lunch at the newly opened Blue Garden.  I also dropped off 6 lap throws at the Keizer Elks.

We also attended our yearly Larson family get together, did the yearly visit to Padington's to attend the retired State Farm group's monthly lunch, Craig took our friend Donna who is now 88 on a couple of motorcycle rides.  And we enjoyed a day of wine tasting in the Salem area with cousins, going to Willamette Valley Vineyards, Coria Estates and Cristom.

We left Salem on Aug. 22 to go up to Estacada to see our friends and to park the motorhome for another trip (it will be in it's own blog post0 before heading south on Sept. 16.  We had to stop in Eugene again, this time to get air bags replaced.  We didn't quite accomplish getting out of the area before the rain started this year, as it poured in Eugene and all the way to Yreka, CA.
